having visited the museum of wiesbaden and seen the original painting of ophelia i feel like i really have to review this song. also bcs its one of my favourite songs to do karaoke with.
released on the life of the showgirl the fate of ophelia is the lead single. arguably the best song on the album which starts off very strong.
the melody is catchy and we even got an official choreo with the music video. everyone knows the moves to “keep it 100 on the land, the sea,the sky, pledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibe.”, simply a cultural reset. and that is an understatement.
even people who dont really like taylor swift are obsessed with this song. if that doesnt mean anything then idk.
in the beginning of the music video we see taylor swift being in an oil painting, nodding to the original painting of ophelia by friedrich heyser which hangs in the museum of wiesbaden.
i had the opportunity to go there and see the painting up close and personal.
it was simply magnificent. the colours and the vibe and the size puts the whole painting in one beautiful artwork. i felt very honoured to have had the opportunity to look at it with my own eyes.
